It’s time for a quick game of Spot the Difference – Yaayy!!!
I saw this article, dated December 15, 2006 with a timestamp of 16:56:46, and then saw another article here with the same date but a timestamp of 05:45 PM – less than one hour later.
Let’s play:
- The first article mentions how “high-profile” Balfour is in the first sentence. Lo and behold, so does the second. How “high-profile” can she be?
- Qantas “confirmed” Balfour had “resigned” from the airline and would leave in “March”.
- In para two, the spokesperson “confirmed” Balfour’s intention to “depart” but did not offer a reason or give “further details”. More like a broken record than a spokesperson, no?
- Further on, Balfour is now the person responsible for significant IT overhauls at Qantas. Regular as clockwork.
Perhaps I should get a job as a plagiournalist, sitting back and rewriting any good story that takes my fancy. Not a bad gig if you can get it.
Like Hell. I hunt, don’t gather.
Ask my boss what’s the quickest and easiest way to get me jumping up and down and screaming – when I’m ordered to follow someone else’s lead…

Here’s a quick quiz….why do more IT professionals read Computerworld than any other title in Australia? Answer: Because we don’t steal AAP copy, in fact don’t receive AAP.
Iain – stop listening to surly drunks that are slippery with the facts.
