Routing problems @ Exetel

My friendly ISP is experiencing some routing problems. I lodged a support ticket yesterday indicating I could not reach my blog from Telstra’s ADSL network because of Exetel’s network. The traceroute looked like this at the final hops…

25 1.4.96.58.exetel.com.au (58.96.4.1) 21.564 ms 23.979 ms 28.395 ms
26 2.4.96.58.exetel.com.au (58.96.4.2) 30.872 ms 34.801 ms 40.709 ms
27 1.4.96.58.exetel.com.au (58.96.4.1) 41.004 ms 44.376 ms 46.854 ms
28 2.4.96.58.exetel.com.au (58.96.4.2) 51.260 ms 59.865 ms 60.349 ms
29 1.4.96.58.exetel.com.au (58.96.4.1) 61.839 ms 17.891 ms 21.502 ms
30 2.4.96.58.exetel.com.au (58.96.4.2) 18.947 ms 22.602 ms 24.550 ms

Back and forth, back and forth. However, while the ticket is still there the problem seems to have miraculously disappeared over night – hence this post! So if you have been unable to reach my blog, now you know why.

Today there is another routing problem affecting another part of Exetel’s network *sigh*. Let’s sit tight and hope for a speedy resolution.
