Broadband speed bump

After my previous bitching and moaning about the speed of my new ADSL2+ connection, a routine upgrade surprised the hell out of me today.

Fetched 184MB in 2m32s (1207kB/s)

That’s about 1.2 MB per second – impressive – but what one might expect from a 24Mbps (about 3 MB per second) service. I hope it stays this way. This Speedtest service tells me 6162Kbps/783Kbps which is what my old plan supposedly was. Who knows, I guess Australians are used to being given what they get when it comes to high-speed Internet access.
