Cool gear from Cafepress.com

I took delivery of a nice Amarok baseball shirt late last week. I ordered it online from Cafepress.

Amarok Baseball Shirt

After attempting to use the Revelinux Amarok store and failing dismally at the purchasing stage, I decided to give Cafepress a go. Impressions:

– Easy to use
– Good selection of open source stuff (you can even make your own)
– Fast online payment and processing
– E-mails for payment and delivery sent
– Item sent via UPS international
– Arrived within 10 days as promised
– Only $7 delivery
– And, apparently 100% of the profits of the store go to the Amarok developers.

Plus the high Aussie dollar means it’s very good value. Call me a geek for buying an Amarok shirt but when I go out somewhere, it’s nice to know you’ll be wearing a unique item of clothing, no? Besides, Amarok2.0 will be available for Linux, Windows and Mac OS so it’s popularity is set to explode!

So my advice to the Amarok team is to link to Cafepress and promote that store a bit more, at least it works.

  1. I think I read on the weekend that amaroK has officially changed its oddly capitalised name to Amarok. Your T-Shirt doesn’t seem to vote either way, but I wonder if the design is about to change.

Anyway, I completely agree with your comments about Amarok. It, as they say, Rocks.

  2. You’re right, Cafepress is great for what it does: low volume promotional items. My other half has even published a book on it. You just upload the PDF and cover graphics, and voila – your book arrives in the post.
