Let the churn begin

Not satisfied with my existing 1.5Mbps ADSL from Westnet I decided to churn to a 8Mbps with Exetel upon advice from a friend. I plan to document the entire process to show everyone how easy, or difficult, it is.

Both ISPs support “rapid” churn so ideally there shouldn’t be any problems. I signed up with Exetel yesterday and selected January 17 as the first available cut-over date. Exetel has a special offer of a $0 churn fee until Jan 15 so at least I escaped the $100-or-so slug usually associated with churning.

Incidentally, my newly created Exetel username and password does not allow me to log onto the company’s customer portal, which is a good start. Let’s be positive and just say it gets provisioned on the churn date.

  1. Your Username and Password will not work until the order is accepted by the wholesaler. This ensures that Exetel resources are available to customers who will have a connection and not be tied up with every ‘sales’ enquiry. If it is not available by lunch time please email residentialsupport@exetel.com.au and Exetel will look into it for you.
